Knox Trail District Recognition Awards  There is information on the nomination form intended to help and encourage all units in the nomination of leaders they would like to see recognized at the District Fellowship Picnic in June.  There are many adults in the Knox Trail District providing outstanding service to our youth every day and now is the opportunity to honor them for their efforts.  Please have your written nominations submitted to Fritz Schmidt at the Council Service Center no later than May 28, 2008.    >>> Nomination Form

What’s Happening at Roundtable? Knox Trail District Roundtables meet at Amelia Park Skating Rink, 21 South Broad Street, in beautiful downtown Westfield. Roundtables are held on the second Monday of the month, unless that conflicts with a holiday.  Check the PVC calendar or go to www.pvcbsa.org and check the calendar for changes.  We begin promptly at 7:00 PM.

Great snacks and socializing follow training.  Attend Roundtable to achieve training requirements.

Wanted: New Members! Boys in your community are looking for an exciting program of activities that will keep them busy all year long.  Your Scouting program will help them all get what they want. But they can’t get it if they don’t join.  And they won’t join unless you ask them to…again and again.  Recruitment materials are available at the Council Service Center.  Your unit commissioner can help you plan and hold an Open House, Bring-a-Buddy Night, or special activity designed to attract new members.  Put a photo of your unit having fun in the local paper; and be sure to include the name and phone number of a contact person. Need help getting a recruitment drive organized?  Contact Fritz Schmidt at the Council Service Center, at 594-9196 or send email to fschmidt@bsamail.org.   For information about recruiting incentives see page 1 of this issue.  More information is available at Roundtable and at the Council Service Center.

Cub Scouts earned belt loops, and everyone had great fun bowling and watching others bowl.  Participating units earned a total of $1,643 for their unit treasuries, and helped the district and council meet financial goals.  Thanks to all bowlers, unit leaders, and parents who participated, and a special thank you to Joanne Dempsey and who helped get things organized.  Thanks also to Fun Time Lanes in Holyoke, Airway Lanes in Springfield, and Lee Lanes in Lee for providing bowling at a discount for our fundraiser.

Friends of Scouting on the Roll The Knox Trail District Friends of Scouting Campaign is at 30% of our goal of $29,000.  Thanks to the 17 units and many local businesses and individuals who have already made generous pledges and sent in donations totaling $8560.  Top FOS fund-raising units in the Knox Trail District to date are:
